| This recent body of work
was produced using variations of a technique which allows press-moulding
and slip-casting to be used together in the same mould to create pieces
which have extremes of thickness and thinness.
Sawdust was added to some of the clay, which allowed the production of thick, coarse elements that contrast with the thinner, smoother areas. Sand-blasting was used to wear down the surface and perforate the thin walls. Inspired by weathering, erosion and decay found in nature these pieces evoke a sense of passage of time and natural formation. |
